Together with most of the world, the Czech Centre strongly condemns the Russian attack on Ukraine. Although one can find similarities with the 1968 invasion of Czechoslovakia, the full-scale military attack on Ukraine is unprecedented and absolutely unjustifiable under any circumstances.
Join us to discuss the impact and possible detrimental outcomes of the war in Ukraine with leading experts on Eastern Europe and Russia, to better comprehend the roots and causes of the Russian aggression as well as to explore our options of support and solidarity with Ukraine and its citizens.
Panel speakers are:-
Edward Lucas, Parliamentary Spokesperson for The Cities of London & Westminster & expert on Central and Eastern European politics, economics and security
Rt Rev. Kenneth Nowakowski, the Eparchial Bishop of the Ukrainian Catholic Eparchy of the Holy Family of London
Marina Pesenti, former Head of Ukrainian Institute London
James Rodgers, former BBC Correspondent in Moscow
Pavel Seifter, former Czech Ambassador to the UK.
Together they will:
- Explore the roots of the Russian invasion from the collapse of the Soviet Union and the establishment of Ukraine to the rise of Vladimir Putin, Russia’s seizure of Crimea and current war.
- Discuss possible consequences of the war while unpicking the Kremlin’s ideology and saluting the bravery of ordinary Ukrainians. Ask your questions and find out what we can do to help.
